LinkedIn Live Raleigh and
Empowered Ideas have been selected by LinkedIn Headquarters to host a
LinkedIn LIVE: Members Conference, one of the very first in the United States. The conference is open to all LinkedIn users, new and established users alike, and will feature a keynote by LinkedIn Ambassador, Lori Ruff.
In addition, there will be “Member Talks” presented by local Linkedin Power-Users. There will also be a Business Leaders Panel, where successful business owners will share their insights and stories about how they've leveraged the LinkedIn network to grow their organizations. After the lunch-time networking session, there will be several afternoon workshops tailored to meet the dynamic needs of our attendees.

During the last week of July 2014, the Empowered Ideas Team assisted in managing the 2014 North Carolina Foundation for Alcohol and Drug Studies (NCFADS) Summer School Conference in Wilmington, NC — with over 250 substance abuse prevention and treatment professionals from all across the region in attendance.
Event planning and marketing began as soon as the 2014 NCFADS Winter School concluded back in February. And this year's summer school featured a keynote by Actor, Author, and Advocate, Christopher Kennedy Lawford.
In 1978, the N.C. Foundation for Alcohol and Drug Studies was chartered as a private non-profit corporation with the support and encouragement of the N.C. Department of Human Resources, the Alcoholism Professionals of North Carolina (APNC) and the Association of Drug Abuse Prevention (ADAP). The Foundation continues its professional relationship with the organization of Addiction Professionals of North Carolina (APNC) and has expanded its relationship to include other organizations within the state which share a vital interest in the continuing education of substance abuse professionals.
Each year, NCFADS hosts two conferences ("schools"), the annual NCFADS Summer School and the NCFADS Winter School. Each school is designed to serve the needs of many professional groups. Up to three types of school credit (SAC, NBCC, CEU) are included in the school cost.

On March 25th, Virginia Johnson and James Wong of Empowered Ideas were invited to present a Media Advocacy Workshop at the North Carolina Coalition Initiative: Building Capacity for Substance Free Communities (NCCI), in Asheville, NC.
Attendees at the workshop represented several coalitions from all across North Carolina, and were part of a two-year program that NCCI offers to coalitions across the state. A pre-training webinar was hosted a week prior the event, and the media advocacy training itself was hosted in Asheville, NC.
Empowered Ideas is proud to serve our North Carolina Substance Abuse Prevention communities, and we're honored to have been invited to talk about Media Advocacy at the NCCI Spring Training.
About NCCI
The North Carolina Coalition Initiative: Building Capacity for Substance Free Communities (NCCI) is a program funded by the state through the NC Department of Health and Human Services, Division of Mental Health, Developmental Disabilities and Substance Abuse Services (DMHDDSAS). Direction and technical assistance are provided by the NCCI Coordinating Center at Wake Forest School of Medicine. NCCI seeks to reduce substance abuse in North Carolina communities by building the capacity of community coalitions to implement environmental strategies.

The NC Foundation for Alcohol & Drug Studies is pleased to present the 2014 Winter School, February 16th-20th at the Embassy Suites in Greensboro. We are honored to have this year's faculty filled with nationally known speakers, researchers and leaders in the field. With poets like Jaki Shelton Green, this year's Winter School is sure to not only educate, but entertain as well.
Addiction professionals, educators, health care professionals and other professionals working with addiction can earn up to 23 credit hours in a setting designed to enhance learning and create a spirit of community.
