The NC Foundation for Alcohol & Drug Studies is pleased to present the 2014 Winter School, February 16th-20th at the Embassy Suites in Greensboro. We are honored to have this year's faculty filled with nationally known speakers, researchers and leaders in the field. With poets like Jaki Shelton Green, this year's Winter School is sure to not only educate, but entertain as well. Addiction professionals, educators, health care professionals and other professionals working with addiction can earn up to 23 credit hours in a setting designed to enhance learning and create a spirit of community.Empowered Ideas was honored to provide Conference Planning and Management services for the 2013 North Carolina Association for the Treatment of Opioid Dependence (NCATOD): Best Practices in Opioid Treatment Conference.
Over 150 professionals attended this year's NCATOD Conference in High Point, NC. Empowered Ideas was brought aboard early in the planning stages of the conference, and assisted in all aspects of the conference throughout the process. For a second year in a row, Empowered Ideas Co-Founders, James Wong and Virginia Johnson, attended INBOUND -- the world's largest inbound marketing conference. While much of the information was quite familiar to the EI Team, we did gain some valuable insight into how some national level nonprofits were using inbound marketing to increase brand awareness and fundraising returns. We're looking forward to sharing these new insights with several of our nonprofit clients soon.
On Thursday, May 24, 2012, Virginia Johnson will be speaking at and representing the state of North Carolina at the 2012 Substance Abuse Librarians & Information Specialists (SALIS) Conference in Reno, Nevada.
In addition to being the co-founder and managing partner of Empowered Ideas, Virginia L. Johnson is a Certified Substance Abuse Prevention Consultant. Working in the field of substance abuse since 1999, she currently coordinates a federal statewide capacity building grant and was previously the Strategic Prevention Framework-State Incentive Grant Coordinator for North Carolina.
Virginia has served on various advisory boards including Addiction Professionals of North Carolina (APNC), Quality Assurance and Standards Committee at the North Carolina Prevention Providers Association (NC PPA); and the Marketing and Communications Committee at the United Way of the Greater Triangle (UWGT). She specializes in communications, sustainability systems, community mobilization and organizational development
